Swimming Pools

Another beautiful 90 degree day in Brisbane! With such warm and sunny weather it's not hard to understand why swimming is so popular here. The time trials for the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne have started, and it seems swimming and swimmers are in the news every day.

I've posted a few pictures of our local pool, which is by no means the newest or largest in Brisbane. Still, it is quite the aquatic facility with four separate pools: one eight lane, 50 meter pool; two play pools (one with fountains and the other with slides); and one semi-enclosed heated pool for lessons. Most impressive of all, it's open from 7:00am to 7:00pm (no special/separate sessions - you can stay all day if you like) seven days a week September-April. Although it sometimes is a bit crowded on hot weekends, there are always 3-4 lanes reserved for lap swimming, and during the week, I frequently have the whole lane to myself. Paradise!
