My mom arrived in Brisbane yesterday! She will be staying with us until the end of January to enjoy the sunshine and warm weather Australia has to offer. For the first two weeks, we will be mostly be staying in Brisbane with a weekend away up at the beach and some day trips to the rain forest. Then, we will be venturing down to Sydney and the Snowy Mountains for a change of scenery and hopefully a bit cooler temperatures.
The hardest part will be the heat, but we got off to a good start, getting up early for a walk and then spending the hottest part of the day at home with the air conditioning on. If she can get used to the early morning schedule, I think she'll be fine.
Tonight is Erik's school's Carols Nights, so mom will get to experience the strangeness of listening to Christmas songs in 85F evening temperatures. Add wearing a sundress and putting mosquito spray, and it really seems weird. Since I suppose this will be our last Australian Christmas, we might as well enjoy it hot weather and all.
