Well, I think I've recovered from the busy weekend. We had Erik's good (Australian)friend Mitchell stay with us for four days while his dad was away at a conference and mum was in Sydney checking out private high schools for Mitchell's sister.
Having Mitchell visit was a great source of pride and joy to Erik. The whole week before he kept asking "When is Mitchell coming?" Although four days seemed like a long time initially, it went by quickly as it was broken up by school, soccer games, a birthday party, visits from the girls over the fence (Mitchell is quite the charmer), and a Tupperware party at a neighbor's house.
It was a good experience for Erik. He hasn't had any Australian/school friends spend the night before. (We know the cousins and Bryce and Austin Baker so well that we don't really count them when considering overnight sleep overs.) We had to work out a few disagreements, but for the most part they happily moved from one activity to the next.
Mark also was away for part of the weekend on a fishing trip with the guys from work and will hopefully be writing a posting on it soon. Much to the excitement of the boys, he brought back a cooler of fish, which we have prepared with various cultural influences: Asian stir fry, spicy tacos, and British style chips. Next on the menu is Italian style fish soup.
