Fall is in the air! Although not with a burst of red or gold,our Plumeria tree is losing its leaves. We are waking to temperatures in the teens, centigrade that is, (around 60-65 F.), and most shocking, the fleece jackets have come out of storage. I’m actually wearing one now, but it's not that extreme by 9:00 am I'll likely be in short sleeves.
For those of you who are considering a visit, March and April have been great months. Arlyn and Bev are planning to come for Erik’s birthday in September and do some traveling around northern Australia, so hopefully the “spring” will prove to be equally nice.
We've been enjoying the cooler weather especially being able to walk, bike, hike mid-day rather getting up early. The only downside is with the cooler nights, the ocean temperature has dropped, and it is getting a bit cold for swimming. In fact, many of the outdoor (unheated) pools have closed for the season. It also is getting dark earlier. By 6:00 it's pitch black, so Erik's soccer team has been practicing under the lights the last few weeks.
Last Monday was May 1st, International Workers' Day and a national holiday in Australia. We went on an outing with the family of Erik's close school friend Mitchell. Mark and Mitchell's dad rode their mountain bikes up to Mount Nebo, about two hours of mostly up but some down, and met the wives and kids at the top. It was a great day all around: the guys had their workout and adventure, the rest of us got in a hike, and we all had a nice lunch together with Erik and Mitchell, or as we call them, the noisy boys, happily content to talk and play all day.
