Although we picked up the keys to our house on Thursday night, yesterday was the first time we really spent much time at our new home. As you can see in the picture, it is the elevated Queenslander style, which is typical of the neighborhood. The design goes back to pre-air-conditioning days, and allows air to circulate around the house and better catches the cooling breezes. The whole concept of trying to keep a house cool rather than warm is going to take some time to get accustomed to.
