I know some of you are anxious to see where we’ll be living (and where you’ll be sleeping when you come to visit), but you have to wait until the next posting. We met at the house on Chancellor St in Sherwood to sign the papers Thursday night around 7:30, so it was really too dark to get any good pictures. Another somewhat reasonable excuse is that Erik had fallen asleep in the car (he still isn’t completely adjusted time-wise and tends to wake up at 5:30 am and get very sleepy in the evenings) and had a near melt-down when he found out he wasn’t going to get to have the master bedroom. “But I called it first Mommy!” Never mind the fact that it is considerable larger, has an attached bath, and a walk in closet.
We are off furniture shopping today and hope to be able to check out of the Marriott by Sunday or Monday, depending upon when our beds get delivered. We also are registering Erik for school today, so he can start on Monday. The school is quite beautiful, with covered wooden walkways and verandas separated by grassy areas. As I said in a previous posting, Sherwood is an older neighborhood, so Sherwood Primary boasts of a history dating back to 1861. It’s doubtful the original buildings still exist, but the campus gracefully integrates traditional Queenslander architecture with modern facilities, such as a music room and swimming pool. However, the absolutely greatest attraction of the school is that is only 3 blocks enough from our house!
Today, I'll be taking lots of pictures, so come back tomorrow to see the house and the school. Chancellor Street is located near Oxley Creek on the south east-ish side of the map, just to the north east of Sherwood Primary. We are at the east end of the street.
