Easter Break

In Australia, Easter Break (NOT "Spring Break" because after all it is technically autumn here in the Southern Hemisphere) is a major holiday weekend. Most Australians are off Easter Friday, the usual Saturday and Sunday, plus Easter Monday, and of course the schools extend the holiday another week. It's actually a very pleasant time of year with mild weather 25-30 C/78-88 F) but still warm enough water temperatures (24 C/77 F) to swim and play.


Mark was able to get away from work, so we headed north to Lake Cootharaba for a week of sailing, kayaking, and cycling with some friends. We even hiked to the top of Mount Cooroora where we were rewarded with views all the way to the coast.

Now we are back back in Brisbane and starting to count the weeks (7 to go) until we move back to Seattle. We may have lucked out packing-wise as a Canadian couple is interested in buying all our household goods. Hopefully, all the stars will align and enable us to head home with just our suitcases and road bikes.

We have a few more adventures planned, one last triathlon for Erik and I, one last regatta for Mark and Erik, a trip to Port Douglas and the Great Barrier Reef, and maybe a weekend in Melbourne. I'm sure time will fly!

We will be sad to leave Australia after nearly five wonderful years, but we have lots to look forward to in the Pacific Northwest as well. Mark "won" a spot in the Ramrod lottery(a 150 mile ride around Mount Rainer), and I secured a back country hiking permit for the Enchantment Lakes in August, so it looks like we will need to stay in shape!
