I tried cycling this time and averaged about 32.5 kph, a big improvement for me. Being on a team is certainly a lot less stressful and a lot more social. We were all buzzing for the next few days and trying to figure out how I could come back to do it next year.

Then just yesterday, the school held it's swimming carnival. The schools all have pools here and swimming is part of PE classes, so it's a bit like track and field day, but just swimming. Erik chose to race 50 meters in everything except butterfly and did very well (two firsts and a second) since he was in the "B" heats. All the same, I was really proud of him because a lot of the kids just swam 25 meters and some didn't try at all. He seemed very happy and didn't mind being in the B heat (the A grouping was the kids with the 6 fastest times).
Time is going quicly now with just two months left in Australia. Soon we are off for a week of sailing, kayaking, hiking and biking with some friends at Lake Cootharaba. Hopefully it won't be too windy and Erik will get a lot of practice steering.
