It's looking like this will be our last year in Australia, so as much as possible we are trying to get out and enjoy the adventures that Queensland offers. We have been up to Noosa again and stayed at a great resort on the river. We had a ground floor unit on the point, so I could launch my kayak off the beach and Erik could build sand castles to his heart's content. Erik even "had a go" kayaking on his own. I tied a line from my kayak's stern to his bow, so he wouldn't drift too far, but for the most part it wasn't necessary as he could pretty much keep up with me even though he was paddling a tankish sit-on-top that was far too wide for him. Mark was participating in an organized 100 mile bike ride up to Noosa and met us up there Sunday. Monday was the Queen's birthday holiday, so we got one more day to enjoy the relaxed beach atmosphere before heading back to Brisbane.

This weekend we went on a "bush walk" after Erik's soccer game out near Ipswich. Although we saw a Wedgetail eagle and four kangaroos, we only got a good picture of the carpet python. This being almost the shortest day of the year in the Southern Hemisphere, the warm winter sun was low on the horizon as we got back to the car. Next time we'll have to get an earlier start.
